Taeveon Johnson

President

Taeveon Johnson is a lifelong Maywood resident with more than a decade of experience in public service and community leadership. He holds degrees in Architecture Drafting & Estimating, Business Administration, and a Master’s in Public Administration, which has helped shape his hands-on experience in infrastructure and governance. His career includes roles as a senior advisor, communications specialist for the Illinois Senate, and project manager in the private sector. He previously coached football at Proviso East High School and remains a strong advocate for youth development. As a father and public servant, Commissioner Johnson is committed to building trust, restoring pride in local parks, and creating inclusive programs that serve all residents.

Tanya Butler-Smith

Tanya Butler-Smith is a lifelong Maywood resident with over 20 years of service in education, health, and community leadership. She’s passionate about connecting people, shaping policy, and supporting youth and seniors. As Commissioner, she’s committed to building a stronger, more united community.

Anthony Cook

Commissioner

Anthony Cook is a licensed insurance broker, educator, and community leader with extensive experience in insurance, real estate, and education. He owns and operates Jade Sky Insurance in Maywood, Illinois, offering a full range of services across all 50 states, including commercial, home, auto, life insurance, bonds, and electronic notary services. Anthony also founded Cook Properties Group, which partners with government agencies to provide affordable housing and job opportunities for low-income families. As a teacher in District 209, he inspires students while staying committed to community growth and development. He serves as chairman and CEO for the Maywood Chamber of Commerce and is a lifetime member of the NAACP. A proud Maywood native and St. Joseph High School graduate, Anthony holds a degree in Finance from Quincy College and brings over 15 years of real estate experience to his work.
