Research studies have found that recreation is connected to social behavior, and that “participation positively contributes to a better quality of life”.
All across the country, line dancing is a popular activity that senior citizens enjoy. The Maywood Park District is committed to serving its residents in the community by addressing health and wellness issues.
The Maywood Park District is pleased to introduce the Silver Seniors Line Dancing team whose classes are organized and instructed by Rochelle Bryant and Katherine “Kat” Hainey. Silver Seniors meet every Friday, at the park district, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. There is a small reoccurring fee of $3.00 per class, but there is no sign-up charge or registration fee, and of course, no contracts.
Physical recreation is an essential and vital activity for everyone. Recreation For Senior Citizens, an article written by James Delaney, mentions “engaging in physical activity will reduce nearly all chance of illness, including heart disease, high blood pressure, colon cancer and also diabetes… boosts mental well-being too…”. The Maywood Park District wants the senior citizens in the community utilize the district as a resource for enjoying life (fellowship) while remaining fit.
