2. PUBLIC COMMENTS/CORRESPONDENCE
-Terrence Jones stated that he was coming again in front of the board looking for follow-up or comments in regards to the matter the he was speaking about for the month of November and December. He then spoke about the Section 3 of the budget for the amount of $462,000. Terrence Jones also highlighted on Section B, C & D. He was looking for to receiving information on how the Maywood Park District would pull ahead and get out of the red and work on getting the 809 building up and operational.

-Commissioner Higgins motion to amend agenda and add that she was out for work during the December 13, 2011 meeting, in which she stated that she had call the Maywood Park District to inform them that she would be absent from this meeting, seconded by Commissioner Broughton.

7. COMMISSIONER/COMMITTEE REPORT
A. Winter Break Celebration and Toy Give Away Report.
-Commissioner Broughton thanks the board for helping to finance a first time event with GLARE. He stated that reports will be emailed to the Maywood Park District with the final update from this event. He stated that over 300 children and their parents came through for this event were very pleased. He then thanked the Maywood Park District staff for their time and efforts in assisting in this event. Commissioner Broughton also stated that GLARE wants to continue to have an ongoing relationship with the Maywood Park District in hope of having other events together.
-Commissioner Broughton then stated that he wanted to thank Commissioner Higgins for assisting him with paying $75.00 out of pocket towards the DJ fee. He stated that the music played catered to the children and assisted them also in the event of when they were playing musical chairs.
-Commissioner Broughton also mentioned to the board that the GLARE president 6 years old daughter has written a book.
-Commissioner Higgins then thanks Ms. Barbara Bailey and Chief White for putting this event together and assisting with this event.
8. STAFF REPORTS
A. Director’s Report
1. Winter Break Schedule
-Executive Director McKinnor stated that during the Christmas break the Maywood Park District was hosting a 4 on 4 Basketball Tournament in which 1500 flyers were distributed and as a result of these 53 kids participated in the basketball 3 on 3 events. It was not extended because there were not enough kids to run the tournament. He also mentioned that the Hip Hop Dance & Tumbling classes were cancelled at the last minute and had he known that he could have replaced the opening with some other event.

2. BUCS Football Banquet
-Executive Director stated that he had plans on having the banquets in February 2012 to cosigned with his Black History month and that they were looking for a speaker for this event.
3. Ordinance 2011-02 Filing
-Executive Director McKinnor stated that he passed out to each Commissioner’s the Rules and Regulation for the Maywood Park District. He then stated that he was leaving it up to the Commissioners to determine what size to print up and to see if the current one was the right size and large enough. He then stated that if another size was needed then it would be no problem pending if the board supplies the paper.
-Commissioner Ratley then asked if there was a lot of request for a copy of the Ordinance.
-Executive Director McKinnor stated that there was no request at this time.
-Commissioner Ratley then asked if the Ordinance would be placed on the website.
-Executive Director McKinnor replied that they would put it on the website, but hard copies were still required to be in the office.
4. Maywood Fire Department Inspection
-Executive Director McKinnor stated that someone had called the Maywood Fire Department in regards to parties. Overall the final results were that if a party was given without tables, the Maywood Park District total attendance could be 800 people, but if tables and chairs were needed a total of 267 people could attend. He also mentioned that emergency lights were put in place and that the fire extinguishers that use to be 20 pounds, the ounces have changed to 10 pounds per Inspection Tony Parker.
-Commissioner Higgins asked if the original occupancy number was 300 or more per the rental agreement.
-Executive Director McKinnor stated that yes that was the old, but the new standards have been posted from the Fire Department.
-Commissioner Higgins then asked, “Why did the Certificate state Central Area Park & Fresh Start Intervention”?
-Executive Director McKinnor stated that he would have to ask Tony Parker because he did not know why.
-Commissioner Grace & Commissioner Higgins both agreed that it should only state “Maywood Park District”.
-Executive Director McKinnor also stated to the board that he has spoken with Mike Woodard and he has informed him that in April there will be a certification for umpire school and that he was trying to get Mr. Woodard certified for the Maywood Park District.
-Executive Director McKinnor then replied to Mr. Terrence Jones that the money mentioned was an estimation of money that he hoping to collect from Cook County.
-Executive Director McKinnor also asked that if the Commissioners have things that they want to add to the agenda then he would prefer that his office have the items by Friday but no later than then that Monday of the first week of the month.
-Commissioner Higgins then asked the Executive Director to please add back to the agenda (Presidents Comments).
-Executive Director McKinnor then highlighted on the Ordinance, the survey & the 809 building in which he has informed the Board of Commissioners that the survey discussion can be added to the next month agenda so he could get some directions on what type of survey
needs to be put together.
-Executive Director McKinnor then stated that currently the electrician has the drawing and hopefully a permit will be drawn soon, so that they can get started back.
-Commissioner Wimbush then speaks about the Executive Director Evaluation as he highlighted on the basketball tournament as well as the park district remaining opened while repairs and cleanup was going on.

-Executive Director replied that he thanked him for the acclamations, however he was doing his job and takes his job very serious when it come to the children in his community.
-Commissioner Higgins stated that she spoke with IAPD and that the Maywood Park District needs to delegate someone from the board to attend that Annual Business Delegate meeting.
She then asked the other board of Commissioner, who would like to go and represent the Maywood Park District.
-Commissioner Broughton and Commissioner Higgins stated that they planned on attended the IAPD Conference.
-Commissioner Grace motions to make Commissioner Higgins the delegate for the Maywood Park District, seconded by Commissioner Wimbush.

-Executive Director McKinnor then informed the board that they were finished with working the Concessions and that the final amount raised was $8500.

3. Donor Forum Capacity Building Grant
-Executive Director McKinnor has informed the board that he has applied for these grants and is waiting to see if they have been approved. Will keep the board posted of the outcome.
